The Sermon for this week is: Those that Cherry-Pick Christian Morals

In starting this week’s Sermon I was constantly at odds with myself. I really didn’t want to write anything, I mean what is the point; those that call themselves Christians are going to just Cherry-Pick those rules that God Himself set down for mankind to follow. It is as if they are telling Christ: “While I love and believe in You, I truly believe you are wrong about issues like abortion, same sex relationship, marriage, and mostly how mankind can enter into Heaven”. “After all if a person is good and doesn’t hurt anyone then it shouldn’t matter if they believe in You or some other god or even the Laws set by God or You – they should enter into heaven just the same as those that do believe in God and His Son Jesus.” “Look Jesus there are hundreds and hundreds of millions of people that believe those Laws against living together without marriage, abortions, same sex relationships, pornography, getting drunk, using God’s or Your name in vain, or not mixing religions together are arcade and that as long as you say you believe in You – you know Jesus and are a fairly good person – then you deserve to go to Heaven.” “Actually Jesus most of us Christians are liberals now and we’re intelligent enough to interpret the Scriptures to know that they are a good set of rules and do not believe anyone will ever go to Hell after all Your Father is too kind to actually send anyone to Hell.” “Come-on just get real Jesus - no one believes in those old scare tactics of Yours anymore.”

So what is meant to Cherry Pick Christian Morals? As you can tell from the short synopsis above it has to do with what most Christians are guilty of today and in fact many of those preaching from the pulpit are also guilty of doing this. In fact many of the Christian leaders will go out of their way to not preach about Hell and Damnation – even though Christ mentioned Hell and eternal damnation almost 5 times more than He did Heaven.

When we Cherry-Pick then we are telling God which rules we are going to follow and not what we are demanded to follow – it is easier to follow what our sinful spirits would rather follow than the hard path that God Has set before us - Matthew 7:13-14 - Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

After all we have spiritual leaders that we pay to determine which rules we need to obey - Matthew 7:15 - Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

It is sad to look around and see the Body-of-Christ (Churches) claiming to be followers of Christ when in fact most are no longer teaching true Biblical or Christian Doctrine as they do not want to offend their flock. Most are even preaching that Christ said “To love the sinner and hate the Sin” as a means to justify those that are living in sin to be active members of the congregation such as active participating homosexuals, men and women living together like married couples, those that actively believe in legalized murders in the form of abortions, etc..

Nothing could be farther from the truth Jesus did not say Love the Sinner and hate the Sin – it cannot be found anywhere in the Holy Scriptures - “Hate the sin, but love the sinner,” is a quote from Mahatma Ghandi, not Jesus Christ – Actually when Gandi said this he was also joking that if everyone was Christian then we would all be blind and missing hands. I think Satan twists this statement around and passes it off as a Scripture quotation to cause Christians to actually take sinners into their Churches knowing quite well that they will never stop their sinful ways. Many churches in the past let active gays into their churches hoping they would change and in fact most never did and in many cases became active members achieving senior positions within the church and thereby influencing how homosexuals would be treated in the future. This can be seen by how many churches during the last decade have accepted gay clergy and are now performing gay marriages. Of course all of those that would perverse the Scriptures for their own beliefs will in fact one day knell before God and have to explain why they thought their beliefs were greater than God’s. Matthew 7:21-27 - Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Cherry-Picking which doctrines that you are going to follow is sinful and when you decide and cast your votes on who will govern – you must also follow Scripture – it they believe in sinful acts such as homosexual marriages, legalized murder in the form of abortions, pushing for laws that restrict the rights of Christians, or place those on the benches to judge others and they use Islamic laws to make their judgment then you are as guilty of the sins that they commit as they are.

When you cast your vote – use your Christian heart and not you own opinion – you too will one day have to answer to God – why you believed your opinion is greater than His, after all people will go to hell. The choice is yours to follow – will you follow Christ or your own ideology?

 CHARGE:

Go and glorify God in all that you think, do, and say! And as you do, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all, now and always. I pray that when you go into the voting booth that you will truly stand up as a Christian and vote against “Murders committed through Abortion, same sex marriage, Sari an Laws, etc.   Amen

Ephesians 6:23-24 - Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
